There is a huge potential for conserving electrical energy. The energy conservation system or method is not expensive, easy and sometimes single step method leads to conservation of energy. This may be Just changing fixtures, adding controller for timely ON-OFF and also distributing the loads for electrical lines, the user has to take appropriate decision for energy conservation. These small steps which may cost sometimes, will have normal payback period of 3- 4 years. So by considering this long term benefit, it is always advisable to go in for energy conservation methods, we briefly listed some of the general methods used for conservation of energy,

  1. At home:- Switch to CFL/LED lamps, use star rated Fans and other home appliances
  2. At show rooms/Commercial establishments:- Use maximum natural light, Use energy efficient lamps and appliances, correct power factor in the input side, Use motion sensor in the corridor, use timer for external illumination, replace old fixtures, they eat more energy than they serve.
  3. In Industries, use sensor for HVAC system , VFD for Motors and keep PF close to unity always.
  4. For street lighting systems use auto ON-OFF switches, Energy saving equipment and proper wiring.

These are the basic steps by which we can conserve substantial amount of energy for the future. This will also bring down operational expenditure and enhances the life span of the electrical appliances.
